The "rule" is that the student should not contact the company. The company is not affected by this rule afaik.
Interviews, however, have been rare in the past I think. So many people were accepted by the company simple based on the resume/letter.

SInce interships end on different days, everyone did something different. Some went straight home, some waited till end of August, some I believe returned directly, but on a 3-month holiday visa. So, basically no constraints apply, in difference to the entrance visa.

Embassy or consulate. You will be provided a CoE (certificate of eligibility) from EU-Japan Centre. After you received that, take it, together with passport to embassy/consulate (check online what services they provided at your respective location) and you will get your visa within 1-2 weeks max..

You probably are underestimating it. Food and drinks can be (surprisingly) expensive. For sure more than in most European countries. If you already feel there is a sentence you can kick out for better readability, do it! Don't leave a single word, which does not add any value to what you are...
