Re: Commuting time to workplace?

I lived ~8kms from my workplace in Hitachi, but my schedule was like this: * 7:30 - leave the dorm and bike half the way to the bus stop * 7:50 - get on a bus (there's only one to go with in the morning) * 8:20-8:30 - arrive to work * 8:50 - start working (bell rings) So we spent a lot of time for a...

Re: Japanese language requirements

Hi and welcome to the forum! :) If I'm looking at the same file, I don't see any company that requires Japanese over English. Most companies have mentioned that daily life level Japanese is required, but you will learn enough on the Japanese course even if you start from zero. In a case like this, y...

Re: Some questions from a newbie

Hello! :) 1. It's true that the average age is usually lower, but I don't think your age is a problem. 2. As long as you're a student while applying, there should be no problems. They might actually consider your working experience as a big plus. 3. You can add additional documents to the file you s...

Re: 2016 Applicants

So the center made a recommendation of a placement for me, which kind of suits my studies and I'm quite interested in it. However, they updated the list of placements today and I found a placement that would suit me better and I find way more interesting. Do you guys think it would have a negative ...

Re: Tourism during Vulcanus

We have the normal Japanese holidays (Golden Week and Obon Week being the longer ones) and also a bit longer Christmas holiday, so yes there is some time to travel. Most of us have the visa for single entry only I think, but despite the name, you can go in and out of Japan. You just have to fill a s...

Re: Learning the Japanese language

The course will certainly get you at least to JLPT N5 level. If you start from zero you'll get somewhere between N5 and N4, depending our own motivation and learning skills. I think most of the people who took JLPT in Dec took N4, some took N5 because the sign-up for the exam was already in Septemb...

Re: Learning the Japanese language

in my first two weeks of work, I have learn more Japanese than in the 4 past months in the Japanese School, nothing better than the real deal. Oh, man, I was hoping that the course would at least be enough to get the JLPT5... The course will certainly get you at least to JLPT N5 level. If you start...

Re: Welcome!

But that leaves me a bit confused, even if the companies offered over 50 placements (say, 60, for example), the EU-Japan centre would still only select 50? That seems odd :S I don't know how the process works ("early bird gets the worm?"), but I can understand why they don't take over 50....

Re: Welcome!

Hi there, Fëanor. ;) I could not find it but maybe i haven't searched enough so does anyone know how much people are getting accepted? Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think we can only speculate based on data from previous years. According to the EU-Japan Centre, as of last year: Q: How many...

Re: Questions about the compulsory documents

Do CV and recommendation letter need to be authenticated by my university? They're highlighted in blue in the compulsory documents. Afaik, those are documents that originate entirely from me, so if I print and sign them they are originals already. What's the point of getting them authenticated?! Th...

Re: Questions about the compulsory documents

-My university offers the Documents 5 and 6 (List of grades and System of grading at your university) together. Is there any problem with this? The document 6 asks for an Average Mark. Is this mark the Average Mark of my list of grades, or is it an average of the grades for all the students in my u...

Valmistuin ite keväällä, joten en suoraan osaa sanoa, mutta väittäisin kuitenkin että tukea ei saa. Viisumikin on "for cultural activities" eikä opiskeluun. Sen tiiän, että Vulcanuksen apurahaa ei oteta huomioon opintotuen tulorajoissa. Eikö Vulcanusta varten pitänyt pysyä koulun kirjoill...

Re: Finnish

Mulla lu...

There should be another email titled "Acknowledgement receipt VULCANUS APPLICATION".

The link is in that one so check your spam folder in the case the email is stuck there.

It is true that there are very few of us on this forum right now, but I guess people haven't found their way here or they don't want to engage in the conversation before they have been shortlisted.

Hi!

Nice to meet you Ilion and thanks for creating the thread. :)

I'm an electrical engineering student from Finland and I'm doing my Master's Thesis at the moment. I also got the confirmation email yesterday.

Best of luck to all applicants of 2015! :)
