Still no news? Kinda annoying that they keep people in the limbo for so long. :/

Nope nothing new here
No new selected members either, so this means that no one else has found the forum or that they didn't select anyone else after the first round...

Re: VinJ 19/20 applicants
I have just received the definitive rejection email.
This is the end for me guys. This was the last year I could apply since I will finish my master studies this year. I wont do a PhD, but maybe, I will do another master studies< course in the future.
Mr Airdawg, I dont feel so good...

Re: VinJ 19/20 applicants
Sorry to hear that no-one else has been selected.
There's many more ways to go to Japan, so don't lose your motivation!
I'll definitely write a blog, so you can look forward to that!

Hi! I'm a selected student for VIJ20. Is there anybody who have been selected for VIJ19 I can ask a question to? Thank you so much! (it's nothing crazy I promise haha)

Re: VinJ 19/20 applicants
Hi. I've enrolled in the master degree of civil engineering. I wanted to apply for 2021/2022. I wanted to know, if I got accepted and then resign, could I try again next year?
thanks
thanks

I don't think it will be possible. I will quote exactly what is written in the FAQ document linked in the VIJ website:
In Japan there is no proper culture of traineeships. Once a file of a student has been sent to the Company, it is very difficult for the Company, culturally speaking, to accept a withdrawal. Any withdrawal after the start of match-making (early March) could damage the Centre’s reputation and cause major problems in finding and retaining prestigious host companies. Please consider this issue and be certain of your intentions, before applying.
In my opinion it is possible to withdraw up to the shortlisting phase. If you are shortlisted and then resign before they send the participant files to the companies I think you should be fine. This happens around February. In my opinion, though, you should send an email and ask, because it is a delicate issue!

After you get shortlisted, you receive a form where you either declare that you want to continue your application process or withdraw.
However, if you know so far ahead that you would be going to resign, I don't think it's worth an effort on your side. There isn't really any link between applications, you can't really "check your chances" and assume that getting shortlisted once grants you getting shortlisted again. Same the other way, one year you can apply and not get shortlisted and then get shortlisted in a following year. The best is to choose a time when you know you would go, in worse case scenario you would get shortlisted and take a spot away from a person who is much more dedicated.
